John R. P. Tesser, MD, FACP, FACR, is a graduate of Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, and the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, New York. He completed his internal medicine training at Maricopa County General Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, and completed a fellowship in rheumatology at Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Dr. Tesser subsequently joined the staff of Maricopa Medical Center, where he served as Chief of Rheumatology and as Acting Chairman and Associate Chairman of the Department of Medicine.
Dr. Tesser is currently a practicing rheumatologist and a principal investigator and sub-investigator at Arizona Arthritis and Rheumatology Associates in Phoenix. He is also a clinical lecturer in internal medicine at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center in Tucson, and an Adjunct Assistant professor in the Division of Clinical Education at Midwestern University, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Phoenix. He is a certified fellow of the American College of Rheumatology and the American College of Physicians and a certified member of the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research and the International Society of Clinical Densitometry. He is serving as a member of the Annual Planning Committee of the American College of Rheumatology, the Practice Improvement Program developmental team, and as reviewer of abstract submissions for the ACR annual meeting. He also serves as ambassador to the Within Our Reach Campaign to find the cure for rheumatoid arthritis. He also is Director of Business Development and an owner in a Contract Research Organization, AmeRuss, which places clinical drug trials in Russia and the former Soviet States.
Dr. Tesser has an extensive history of performing multiple clinical research studies including all forms of rheumatic diseases with an emphasis on rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and pain. He has been the principal investigator on more than 250 clinical research trials. Dr. Tesser actively serves as a speaker and consultant for many companies, and he has published more than 30 articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed medical journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine and Arthritis & Rheumatism. |
